It wasn't an extension mate, he was actually out of contract. He had other offers from clubs on the table but decided to stay after we offered him a new 2 year contract.
A really wasted talent and one that I had hoped would run Ireland's midfield.
If he does indeed have an issue with alcohol then I hope the club gives him all support available. If the issue is instead one of choice then he should be released forthwith.

Where is the logic in offering him a new 2 year contract? It's madness - surely a pay as you play deal should have been offered. I'm not convinced he'd have stayed if that was the only thing offered to him. He's not even in our top 4 midfield players in my opinion. Bizarre, and a total waste of money on wages.
Make him pick litter up from the stands after games or something.
