my daughter got run over by a hit and run driver as she was crossing a set of lights 4 years ago. he jumped the green light and hit her so hard she ended up 25 feet down the road
skull cracked, collar bone shattered , pelvis shattered , both legs broke , spinal injuries , both shoulders shattered , elbows shattered , nerve damage , brain damage ... 4 years of surgery , learning to walk again , coming to terms with the scars she has and a lifetime of issues .... I could go on ~(in court it took almost 5 minutes to read out every injury) . she was 17 ffs.

so have I got sympathy for Gibson ? no and the fact he was drink driving too , unforgiveable . I want him sacked.
yes there was no harm done , but that biker could have been killed or he could have head a head on collision with a young family.
drink drivers don't deserve any sympathy or chances.

Really sorry to hear that, mate.

I'm a convicted drink driver & I agree entirely with the sentiment RE: gibson. I got off lightly - £180 fine & 19 month ban. I couldn't have complained if I'd got more. Luckily I didn't hit anyone - I was only caught because someone hit me. Had the bump not happened I'm not sure I wouldn't have driven while drunk again. I know I never will, now.

Probably the most stupid crime of all. Worth a most severe punishment for the sheer stupidity & selfishness of it.

Did you happen to drink in the Eagle & Child mate?
He's been trapped in the old foundations since it was demolished with nothing but a phone, a dodgy electrical socket, the rats and a muddy trickle of water.

I'm impressed that he's still reasonably lucid.

.....I wonder if this would be considered a dangerous precedent. More specifically if we didn't do similar if the same incident happened for a more 'valuable' player.

Don't know. The law's the law. You can't write 'free to break the law at will' into someone's contract.

Very sorry to hear that mate. Hope she's doing much better these days.

A drink driver shouldn't have to actually cause an incident such as this to be condemned. The second they get behind the wheel, they're risking other people's lives, and so they don't deserve sympathy. Having someone you love hurt or taken away from you because of the stupidity, laziness or recklessness of another is something no one should have to experience.
