Darron Gibson

Darron Gibson is often our best player when he plays. Wind your necks in.

Is right. We bought him for next to nothing and, despite the negativity in the early pages of this thread ( which I'm saving for requoting some other time ) he's, if fit, one of the first names on the teamsheet. The fact that he seems to be injury prone explains why he didn't cost much.

honestly lads we might aswell just write him off: get him out of your heads. Players like this will have injury problems their whole careers and simply aren't capable of playing for very long spells. He's one of our best players yes and I'm one of his biggest fans, but he will never be a regular in our team.

Stop talking such utter horse ****

Such a big loss. I honestly believe that if he had been fit then we would be challenging for the title at this stage. Since he joined we have played 45 games in total.

With Gibson: P24 W14 D8 L2* (* includes defeat to West Brom when he was withdrawn after 19 mins when the score was 0-0)
Without Gibson: P21 W6 D10 L5

Now I'll do the same but just for PL mathces.
With Gibson: P20 W11 D8 L1* (* as above)
Without Gibson: P18 W5 D9 L4

So in the league we amassed 41 pts from 20 games with Gibson. And without Gibson we only got 24 pts from 18 games.

In saying that, yesterday was a good performance from the lads without Gibson, so hopefully they can kick on and rack up the points that they should be doing in the next 5 league games (all very winnable).

I actually went cross eyed at the end of that. My brain shut down and I realised I was still on holiday and couldn't be arsed to process the maths.

However, I agree, if he's fit I'm chuffed.

However, he's got to start keeping himself fit as we can't afford to carry anyone on the wage bill.

Nothing much more to add. Team played well yesterday without him, but even still you could see acres of space at times with guys running right at our back four. I don't think Hitz/Osman with Pienaar helping is a sustainable lineup.
