He has already spent £15 million of the £24 million from the sale of Joleon Lescott to Manchester City on Sylvain Distin, the former Portsmouth defender, and Russian international winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.
Yet Distin was not his first-choice replacement for the England international.
Moyes has admitted Sebastian Bassong and Matthew Upson were identified before Newcastle and West Ham's financial demands ruled out Everton – a fact the Scot blames on City's failure to offer a suitable sum for Lescott earlier in the summer.
Id think hed go , yes .
Me OWN opinion .
Plus , got told about this TIME ago ....
I like Distin, but he's not irreplaceable. for me, after this season, only Baines comes under that category.
But, with the number of players being linked with moves, we risk upsetting the unity of the squad by bringing in too many replacements.
Hypothetically, if Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Rodwell, Yakubu, Yobo & Vaughan going out, it suggests Moyes would bring in 6 players - that's a lot of change! More players out means more in, which means less left who get the team spirit that has been so apparent over the last 5 years. Then you factor in the changes to the team on the pitch and how long it takes players to gel.
So while I wouldn't lose sleep if he left, I'd prefer it if he didn't as the domino effect could be catastrophic (potentially).
