Perhaps Thomas' biggest obstacle to becoming the third British winner in recent times are the antics of the die-hard sky haters who line the route and seem especially determined on one last big effort to deny him.

The nearest he came to being derailed was when an idiotic fan stuck an arm out and tried to grab him on the final ramp to the finish.

The Sky haters here are less energised by Thomas than they are by Froome, but they still might pose the biggest threat to his chances of winning this race.

Fortunately, he stayed upright - and as a result stretched his overall lead out to 1min 59sec over Dumoulin, with Froome now effectively out of the running 2min 31sec behind.

It would possibly be a fitting, even if a sad and truly shameful end to what has now descended into the Tour de Farce, if one of the many lunatic sky haters pushed him to his crash and brought the whole sordid hate campaign to the farcical end that ASO and the organisers seem to have always wanted.

You seem somewhat confused. If I read you correctly then Froome is a proven cheat but you're not sure if Thomas is. Just wait a while and then you'll no doubt get confirmation on here that Thomas definitely is.

Considering we have another British winner I can’t take to Team Sky at all. Especially with all the stuff that has come out about Froome and Wiggins in recent times. Very suspect and dodgy to me. Honestly think they are massive drug cheats, not that the whole sport is riddled with it mind. Start a team and after a year or two they basically dominate the whole thing. Would not be surprised if down the line it comes out and it was similar to the Armstrong stuff.

Thomas actually has a full cycling back ground and you could somewhat see where his improvements have come through over the years, even tho its hard to believe he has just developed into the best climber in the world over the last couple years..

with froome , he just turned up basically over night with no grand tour background and dominated.
