I suppose a positive for the GC guys is that it appears like they're all together. There isn't anyone of the favourites that is in the leading groups. I'm not sure those kind of riders are in the peleton at the moment. There aren't any Evans/Vino types that can do alright in 'classic' style conditions. I suppose Nibali is the closest in the current peleton.

Sounds like Richie Porte is struggling, with Alaphilippe perhaps in the box seat among the GC contenders.

Milan Sanremo on Saturday. For what is nearly always a sprint finish, it's a strangely compelling race, although it'd be nice to see one of the GC boys do a Pantani and attack on the Cipressa.

Weather looks like it will be much better than some years.
