Heartwarming that Bruce.
Normally start seeing Froome in the media a bit around this time of the year - he must get his human-being suit back from the scientists.

TeamINEOS is exquisite work from Sir Dave B - no [Poor language removed] given whatsoever.

Hmm

Just got in soaked to the skin watching the Tour de Yorkshire racing past my leafy West Hull suburb.
Actually feel sorry for the riders, the rainfall and cold temps are horrendous.

Had another crack at a 25 last weekend, 1hr and 9 seconds FFS! Aggravating time but felt like I'd rode it as hard as I could (plus didn't know the course), so was happy overall.
Anyhow, lad starting 9 minutes back was fairly handy - Steve Cummings. Wasn't sure if he would pass me with that deficit but he did indeed about a mile from the finish. Hardest part of the course, a 200 yd incline that you wouldn't notice on a normal ride, but was a redline effort on the testing bike. Fair to say he passed me like I was standing still, clocking 50 mins and 20 seconds for 25 miles. Representing Birkenhead North End, although he had a team dimension data suit on.

Cool to see a pro at a local event like that - heard he is recovering from a broken collar bone.

Interesting start to the Giro so far. Weather forecast has meant most of the big names have already gone, and Roglic has already put big time into many, with Dumoulin ~ 30 seconds down already. Only really Yates left to go.

Good vid up on the Eurosport site on average bloke trying Hardknott pass - gives you a good idea how steep it is.

First go is LOL, but second time round after a bit of training he puts in a very game effort, mentally on it, but the top end of it just too much.

Rode the Velo Birmingham - nice fast opening 70 miles then a bit lumpier at the end, but a good event if only for the closed roads.

Very sadly a fella died on one of the descents. I passed him and didn't look good at that time, but I have to say that the idea of setting off experienced cyclists that form late pelotons alongside novicesnovices a 17,000 field on fast winding descents is asking for trouble. Terrible news.

These kind of courses do invite trouble to an extent. They're often pretty flat so make it rideable for people without a high level of fitness or bike handling, and the closed roads make them think they're in a pro race. I've done quite a few granfondos on the continent and the toughness of the parcours does make the quality of riding much higher than I've found on various British sportives.

Glad you had a good ride though. Any other events planned for the year?
