I’m conflicted, so I haven’t voted.

On one hand it must be a nightmare from a moderation point of view. Some topics bring out the worst in people. There’s definitely an element of trolling, which I think is particularly crass considering the topics and the shape the country, and more importantly the people residing in it, are currently in.

I wouldn’t blame you at all for scrapping it entirely.

On the other hand, I’ve had some great discussions with some intelligent and insightful people. I’ve learned things I wouldn’t have without it’s existence. By and large the participants of the CA forum are good people, even if I don’t agree with everyone.

Perhaps it could continue with tighter controls, but I wouldn’t envy the person ultimately responsible for it. It’s a thankless task.

I say keep it closed and instead just allow these topics in Ale House and if posters can’t be reasonable then ban them. Give the mods and @the sniderman full slaughter abilities to weed out our enemies.

I have learned much more from the CA section than I have contributed and I do miss it.

There are enough good contributors to CRUSH any bellends who try to abuse the site.

I don't contribute anything to anything that includes politics as I'm a bit of a thicko when it comes to anything democratic-thingy-me-bob but I have to say the forum has been hugely invaluable to me as I live in Tory-Town where liberal is an actual dirty word.
So it's great to see the city still leaning left. I am not telling porkies when I say that I have learnt so much from you ragamuffins.
Not only about the political machine but how to debate online. I know some things get out of hand but it would be a shame if a few unfortunate incidents ruin it.

It's been closed for 3+ weeks now.

It had been a credit to the community here for 5/6 years but unfortunately, it needed a pause to take the sting out of the ugly direction in which it was going.

... but now it's been closed for a short period, has GOT been better without it? Should we keep it closed? or do you think we should bring it back?
