Simply bring it back and ban posters that abuse it.
That would require moderation. I don’t think that’s going to happen - however we need some form of control to manage the trolls and bellends.Simply bring it back and ban posters that abuse it.
Junior mods limited to CA and empowered with the ability to take temp-ban action, but only as a collective, is not a bad idea. It sends a signal up the food chain that there's a potential problem, without requiring the mods to monitor the whole thing. That would require moderation. I propose a monthly people’s trial presided over by a judging panel consisting of, but not limited to @the sniderman and @davek there should also be a guest judge as well.
If the defendant/defendants are found guilty they should be given a 1 month thread ban from CA.
I am certain it will be better in the immediate term, even without structural changes. My concern is that we will repeat the mistakes of the past and exhaust Danny's patience again, unless we make changes. Over time, CA will become populated with people who were not present for the pause, and some of those who were will forget.Anyway, the break will have given people time to reflect and relax a bit more and maybe take some of emotion away before it reopens (if it does)…….

It's more a case of not engaging in a pi$$ing contest with a contrarian who gets their rocks off by trying to be edgy and winding people up. If someone has a reasonable position on something that you don't quite agree with then I'd agree that is a healthy situation to engage. If someone is just wanting to get a hardon by winding others up or going against the grain, repeatedly, then why would you want to waiste your time engaging? They don't want to find common ground and just keep looking for ways to trigger others. Thanks to several of you for focusing my thinking:
I agree with the sentiment, but the problem is that we're still providing a feedback loop. They will just get smarter about being malign actors. Any functional community must have the ability to identify those people, and boot them into the stratosphere. It's why we have mods. If we do not do this, we will end up right back where we started. It won't happen tomorrow, next week or probably next month, but it will happen.
I don't want the mods having to police CA any more than they do, so we should be realistic about what is required to prevent or at least minimize that outcome.
Woaaaaaah.
Banning everyone who DOES post there would be a better way.
Some absolutely humongous weapons posting freely in that transfer thread.
People like them shouldn't be allowed Internet.
We need CA specific mods. thenThat would require moderation. I don’t think that’s going to happen - however we need some form of control to manage the trolls and bellends.

I tend to stay off the thread as it's the same protagonist - football & politics dont mix - end of - the mods have enough to do than scour the infighting on that thread - When i stood on the terraces we stood as one Everton FC politics as never mentioned .....we probably idolised players of ours with different political persuasions we adored our team we made it known if they played poor etc - end of imo
