Cup run or Table run?

To make Champions league group stages would change us, FA cup win would be fantastic, but would be a moment for the younger blues and may be isolated, whereas Champions league may allow us to win trophies more often.

Like many of you have said, It's got to be 4th place. CL is vital for us, it helps to keep our best players, we'll get more money, and CL helps attract more and better players. Moyes should just take advantage of the FA cup and give some playing time to some of our young players like Duffy, Oviedo, Barkley, Vellios and Kennedy to go along with second choice players like Heitinga, Hitzlsperger, Naismith and so on; just give some rest to key players like Baines, Jelavic, Jagielka, and Pienaar, and restrict the playing time of our injured players and we should be alright.

Reaching the Champions League group stages once will not change this club long term, it's a myth. If we did get in then we almost certainly wouldn't have the squad to finish 4th the following season and mount a half decent challenge in the Champions League. Then we'd be back to square one, but with an even higher wage bill than we had before.

Don't think I can agree with this mate. The extra revenue will help in squad development. Enable us to bring in the two or three players we are desperately short of and give us a fighting chance of a repeat performance (finishing 4th).

It's no coincidence that the teams who consistently perform well in domestic cups are those who persistently qualify for the CL. The money talks. I know we can't compare ourselves to Man U, City, Chelsea or arsenal financially, but until we get into the CL and get some of the financial benefits to help the clubs current financial situation, then I fear we are gonna end up being plucky "nearly men" for a long time.

Winning the cup would be amazing, but it's a one off achievement. Qualifying for the champions league would give us a fighting chance to compete with the financial big boys in league. It's the old - give a man a fish adage.

.....don't underestimate that we are a decent side so there should be no prioritisation for these competitions. We can compete on both fronts and no top side will relish getting us in the draw or playing us in the league.

All of the cups and all of the tables.
