Zuck knows which way the political winds are blowing. Introducing community notes and doing away with 'fact checkers'. Wise.

As long as it allows governments to finally drop the pretense that these are anything other than media businesses, and as a result bring Meta, X, TikTok and every other monetized platform under the same legislative umbrella as every other media businesses then this is fine.

Btw in case posters think I'm picking on Labour Tate also has the potential to destroy much of what remains of the Tory Party. Again, if Tate is serious about a political run. I make no prediction on how good an elected politician Tate will be. Simply his ability to destroy the political status quo in Britain is huge.

His ability? How so?

His potential? Maybe, I have no idea. But seems strange to claim he has the ability to destroy the political status quo.

1. He's a more powerful speaker & communicator than 99.9% British politicians. He's at least as good as Trump, maybe even better.

2. Populism is on the rise throughout the West.

3. The British state is about to fall off a fiscal cliff. These current years may be seen as the good times by the end of this decade. It's no coincidence we got Thatcherism only after the IMF became involved in UK govt finances. It took the disastrous 1970's for the UK to vote for Thatcherism.

I may easily be wrong and Tate does little in British politics. Im not sure he's a man suited for long term political commitments. However, everything is in place for him to destroy the political status quo if he decides to make a serious effort. Someone is going to upend it all we just don't know who yet.

If Trump can seriously undermine the US political system then Tate has the potential to at least massively disrupt UK politics.

Edit: oh, and we now have Musk's X. UK political news just became largely unanchored from the BBC, Sky, Guardian etc.

1. Both Tates communicate in very tightly controlled ways - social media clips, pre-recorded friendly podcasts and sites they control. This is not evidence of him being a powerful speaker (the opposite in fact), and as a communicator it will only become relevant if that is the direction politics heads. If it does, we are all ruined.

2. Populism is only on the rise because of the establishment attempting to co-opt it to avoid the consequences of their own actions. Hundreds of millions have been spent just here to boost it - GB News, the legacy media, the new online media sphere - its all funded by establishment figures and firms (either here or in the US).

3. If it is going to fall of a fiscal cliff, then some gimp in Dubai flaunting wealth is hardly going to be something the country looks positively on. I rather think the country will, if that happens, go through a very angry phase.

Tate is only an effective communicator in controlled ways? Sure, but that's also what professional politicians do. Keir Starmer isn't going off script on Rogan for three hours straight. It's largely sound bites from our political class and set speeches written by professional writers.

Makes no difference why populism is on the rise, just that it's on the rise and our political class seem impotent in fighting it.

Your confidence in the British public may be correct or it may be misplaced. Trump was voted in largely by the poorer sections of the US electorate. British and US politics aren't that different. They've had FDR to our Attlee, Reagan to our Thatcher, Clinton to our Blair. Both countries may not be on the same page politically but both are the same short story narrative.

Would you vote for Mr Tate if he managed to run in a general election?

Prediction; if Andrew Tate really is serious about becoming PM his influence on British politics will be huge. I'm not predicting he'll become PM but Labour's red wall will be smashed to pieces by the time Tate is finished with it.
I genuinely believe Andrew Tate is only a thing on the internet. Much like many things these days , if you don't spend your life online then you may not even know who is is...or care.

I would argue he would have as much impact on politics as Kanye west has.

You could be correct, Tate may be more of a Kanye West than a Trump. Tate's persuasion game though is off the charts. If Tate wants the political gig he has the tools required. The political climate is ideal for someone like him.

The same folk laughing at Tate now are the same ones who probably laughed at Trump descending the escalator in 2015. As I said, I won't say the Prime Minister's office is his for the taking but Tate's destructive potential on the two main political parties is huge.
