There are so many people on the left where this is all true. Yet, I believe these are the people who are shaping your viewpoint and you’re completely blinded by it.

The ones defending Owen Jones in this thread have also been critical of him.

Anyway, do you care to cite examples of how he is consistently wrong or are you going to dodge that question yet again?
Apology accepted.

Don't agree with that at all, Jimbo.

I mean, it's actually almost funny if people cannot, or should i say will not see, and your boy clearly cannot.

If people don't understand the roles and structures in comms channels then fair enough. But to then pretend that they do and from a position of smug delusion... that's what I'm seeing here.

I'd used the academic term opinion leaders to define their roles in the comms process, I think someone described them both as social commentators, an acceptable description of their roles. I'd assume that it is clear that they fulfil these same roles?

Their content and narratives are aling political lines. Politically they are at opposite ends of the spectrum, or opposite sides of the fence. Ones on the left, one is on the right of the same spectrum/ same field. Their narrative in the culture war follows the political themes that both use, thus the term opposite sides of the coin.

People can pretend that these facts are not true if they like but why be so silly.

Maybe the thread should be renamed as the Owen Jones fan club.
That's a specious argument that ignores both the substance of what they say and how they communicate and behave online. Your argument is essentially "both social commentators, one left, one (far) right, they must be ying and yang". If you'd said Tanskiiiiiii, Russ or Femi you might have had a point. That lot, like Hopkins, are just wanking for coin. Jones at least looks for answers and tries to posit solutions most of the time, and isn't shy of criticising his own "side". These social media clowns just troll the other side with the main aim of getting clicks and likes from their fanbases/marks. There's a marked difference in what they contribute to debate.

Several posters have explained clearly why your comparison is daft, but you're still arguing the toss for some reason.

Also, FFS for making me feel I have to defend Owen bloody Jones. Goddamn it.

This post is dripping with the arrogance and ignorance you accused others of. You made a dumb statement and have been unable to back it up when asked for (I’ll use the academic term here) evidence.

Oh dear :(

Owen Jones has crafted a platform to highlight, shape and frame issues about *tractors, and Hopkins has aniche talking about baked goods.

They both never talk politics, absolutely would never go near any of the culture war themes and certainly do not represent the left and right.

This some double down. I have to respect it in a way.

Fancy having a stab at backing up your opinion on Owen Jones being consistently wrong or nah?
