Current Affairs Culture wars & The rise of grifting

For all the talk of Rogan’s diversity of opinion, and willingness to have difficult conversations, it’s just an absolute circle jerk these days.
I know who Joe Rogan is. Snippets of his "profound common sense viewpoint" pop up every now and again.

Is it worth actually taking in one of his podcasts to direct it and prove beyond doubt my preconceived notion that he's as big a grifter as can be?

My next door neighbour wears a Joe Rogan t-shirt and is exactly the type of buffoon I'd expect to fall for this nonsense. His girlfriend's grandmother died leaving the house empty. He believes that he's the typical hard done by white man who through hard work got what he has rather than chance because society is against peopke like him nowadays. It's just a gobsmacking lack of self awareness.

Sure. This was my opinion on Rogan in a different thread.

He’s had some really great guests on over the years, and had some great conversations.

His strength is also his weakness - he doesn’t really challenge anyone, which opens the conversation up, rather than shuts it down, so these long form conversations can happen freely. But, it also means he lets a load of bullsh!t get through unchallenged.

That’s fine when he’s talking about DMT or MMA or meditation or whatever, but when he starts talking about topics with real world consequences, I start to have a problem with his approach.

It’s not that I think he’s a bad grifter necessarily. More that he often has bad grifters on, and doesn’t really challenge them, which as I say above can lead to long, open conversations, but lots of bullsh!t gets stated as fact.

Zuby is one of the dumbest grifters of all time, Dave Rubin levels of stupid. He is a conservative rapper who can’t rap and refers to himself as the Jordan Peterson of rap. Basically his attempt at a music career failed horribly because he has literally no talent whatsoever so he figured out that he could build an audience out of right wing boomers by telling them what they want to hear. Funniest thing is that his fans call him the saviour of rap even though none of them like or know anything about rap. Literally the uncoolest rapper of all time.

Conveniently divorced from his wife, then went bankrupt and now is seen around his ex-wife’s talking to builders etc whilst a house gets a renovation. In my experience, once the insolvency service start sniffing around your finances you’re going to get found out.
Hopefully another jail term for this little winnit as he tries to dodge paying legal fees to a school kid.

James Lindsay is a massive bellend grifter, making money off of the most ridiculous "red scare" out there: CRT. He has a new book coming out (his 2nd) on this topic in March. Another one of these "I am actually a liberal but..." types.

Yup

Writes inane garbage like that every day on twitter and gets rewarded with a place on the biggest podcast on the planet

He is right about rogan being a litmus test, someone being a fan of his is a huuuuge red flag

My eldest son lives in Austin. As he was leaving work the other day, three men were walking in the middle of the narrow path out of the car park and wouldn't move to the side until my son honked his car horn at them. Prior to honking, he took a photo of them with his phone - just in case (young people do things like this). He thought he recognized one of the men in the photo and shared it with me to confirm. Sure enough, it was Alex Jones. Apparently InfoWars has a studio/office in the same complex.

I thought about telling my boy that if the same thing happens to run over Jones' ass and claim it was self-defense. But I didn't.

I'm weak.

Peterson with another great take on something he clearly knows nothing about, there is no basis for his statement other than to appeal to a racist crowd.

@Prevenger17 's hero has to be the most overrated voice of the last decade, even most rogan fans don't consider him an intellectual. Can only imagine the sort of creatures that attend petersons make your bed rallies, the eunich sounding little toad
