No the first part relates to actually peer reviewed research published on BMJ and was shared by the scientists themselves but then flagged by the fact checker anyway. Just shared another story in regards to another example , well an open letter directly from bmj relating to it.

It's the idea that anything not allowed on social media is mis information which maybe true in a lot of cases but not always. Hence the blanket terming of it, plenty of examples where it isn't. To be honest , Facebook alone for their fact checking is extremely unreliable at times. Instagram will also flag up pictures with them messages on as mis information.

I had thought Twitter , or social media in general has the same model. You friend or follow who you want and don't follow people you don't want, or block them. Been years myself since I used twitter, but generally speaking it is the definition of an echo chamber if you only follow accounts you agree with. If you use it for news etc then not so much.
Nice one Ash

Why would you follow accounts you don't agree with?

Isnt that the whole point of twitter and social media? To follow people of similar interest to yourself?

Obviously you're never going to agree with anyone 100%, but why would a left wing liberal want to follow a right wing conservative? What's the point?

Twitter is hardly the place for reasoned debate and discussion is it.

No it isn’t.

If you haven’t used it for years, then maybe you’re less sighted on how it actually functions.

As I said, I still see the daily tripe from all sorts of people I dont agree with, despite not following them.

As far as I can see, It’s less of an echo chamber, more of a cesspit of arguing, abuse and misinformation.

Well in all fairness if it pushes certain tweets then it would be classed as promotion. If it's completely factual tweets then no issue at all if twitter wants to be a news source for its users.

If it's pushing people's opinions then completely different story then.

Yes, it's the algorithms that are wrong.

Not that most of these "followers" and retweets were Russian bots, and you're an irrelevance these days.

Oh, and the pandemic being particularly hard on a certain demographic often likened to pink pigmeat.

Not healthy to live on a diet of spam and gammon unless you're turning them into porkies pies.

Culture war is just class war by another name. Keep the working classes at each others throats over all manner of "grievances" around race, gender, sexuality or religion. None of it matters when you can't afford to pay your gas bills.

Elites control all sides of the argument, there is no "left" or "right" only the mega rich and everyone else. Don't look at the 100,000 non-doms who are avoiding tax. Don't look at the mega rich who are playing international monopoly in our cities. Just make sure you have an opinion on BLM, or LGBT or whatever other alphabet soup is currently en vogue.

Reject it all, become a dissident. Take care of yourself, take care of your family and take care of your community.

I'll pass.

Sounds like a credit card, turns out to just be expensive tat
