Chelsea have just won the league playing Victor Moses are right back all season. I don't think it's fair to write anyone off just yet
To possibly become our 3rd choice right back. Who cares? He's likely going to be on low wages, free transfer, and Koeman knows him. We need options there until Coleman comes back.
It's a mentality issue. I'm a believer in that if you have genuine ambition in football, you go all out on one ridiculous signing like City did with Robinho etc. because it sends the message out about the project and means you'll have a greater chance of attracting others, with or without European football, because they'll be "in on the ground floor" of the whole thing.
Look at it as an outsider - if they're looking at Everton, they may have seen a few headlines about "rich owner, new stadium" etc. etc. but the whole thing falls down like a house of cards when they look a bit closer and think "well, what's actually happened?"
China are having to spend stupid money to bring stars over there, the USA did it to establish themselves too before then. Individual clubs looking to show ambition have to do the same thing - bring in the big star, make a statement and you elevate the standards of the following players coming in. Otherwise you are getting jibbed off by the likes of Gabbiadini in late August as Everton isn't worth kicking up a fuss over to get the move.
We need a squad, koeman knows him well

But in reality it doesn't actually matter does it?
He knew Stek well too.
I'm just sayin'![]()
I care.
It is very disappointing we are signing a player so low down the pecking order at Saints he is not even being retained, no matter the situation with Seamus.
But that's just me.
Would the teams above us be content with a signing like this for backup? Not a chance.

Of course it does. The following season to grabbing Robinho, City's project had the pull to grab Carlos Tevez ahead of a bunch of suitors, caused Lescott to agitate for a move and stole a march on Liverpool for Gareth Barry.
Yes, more money offered, but those players knew the club meant business the moment Robinho binned off Chelsea. Again, it's all down to mentality and to an extent propaganda - sending out the impression you intend to win.
Compare and contrast with Everton - panic buys on dross like Bolasie and losing big players in Stones, Barkley and Lukaku instead of gaining them.
Of course it doesn't. But I guess it depends on the mentality of the individual.
If, and we haven't yet, sign Martina, I won't be going mad about it yet. If by the end of the summer we've signed Martina, Deeney and Carl Tiler then i'll be livid.
But that's ages away. And probably won't happen.
If you expected Everton to go and get a Robinho 'STATEMENT' signing then that's your own fault for having those expectations. I certainly didn't. As cool as it would have been.
