Confirmed Signing Cuco Martina

Do you rate your 3-4 games of scouting over the opinion of our manager who managed him for an entire season ?

Hodgson signed Konchesky for the rs, Koeman signed Martinez for saints, and signed stek for us, notes signed Gibson and pienaar for s'land, Martinez signed alcaraz, kone, cleverley

All those had worked for at least a season under those managers. All turned out to be utterly tragic players when signed again.

Managers get stuff wrong mate, trotting the line out you have is effectively stating all managers get everything correct and you can't criticise something unless your as experienced as they are.

I doubt many have seen him play that often and are judging him on not getting a game at Southampton, just wait and see and if hes not good enough then one of the under 23s will get a chance..

Thats if we even sign Martina

Man City signed Richard Wright not so long ago. Liverpool signed Kolo Toure. One player who is clearly a squad filler does not dictate our overall transfer strategy.

Wasn't Wright signed as third choice keeper and to enable city to meet the home grown player quota? Was there four years and never played a game for them.

Toure played regularly for a very good city side until his last season there when he was a squad player, hardly the same as third choice rb for saints.

You didn't answer the question..

Irrelevant.

They both signed players who were clearly not indicative of their overall ambition or transfer targets. That's the point of the post.

This signing, if it happens, is clearly a squad filler to cope with our increased number of games next season. He played 18 games for Southampton in each of the previous two seasons. This whole thread is a joke, miseries moaning for no reason about a signing which is clearly a cheap deal for a player who will do a job when needed.

Can't believe people are getting so worked up over signing a cover player in a position we are weak.

Even more so when you consider we employed Tony Hibbert for 18 years

Bedwetting season is in full flow. If a player we're signing isn't boss on FIFA, from a fashionable club and costs less than £20M then they're gash, not good enough to wear the shirt, nothing will be the same, blah blah blah........

Gutted if true really, this is what Southampton fans were moaning about Koeman for, getting Trash squad filler instead of letting youth play.

Kenny will be on a one way trip to Glamorgan Fc.

Maybe Koeman sees Holgate stepping up to a regular CB role & just wants some cheap backup/competition for JJK. A promising young player like JJK should be brought through properly. With Seamus still out, he could find himself as the only choice. Obviously, our fans are patient & understanding o_O....,but maybe Koeman sees a cheap option for a player prepared to train hard & happy to be back-up?

Exactly. I utterly despise the 'I trust the manager' line. They get things very wrong very often.
