Their public health care system is far more efficient than the portuguese... Well, I dare to say that their public health care system is far more efficient than the american one...ooops.:stick:

oh, let's please not get into that rubbish. Yes, the Cubans spent a lot of emphasis during a time in their health-care system. For a time they emphasized education. Another time they tried to force people into farming, and they tried converting their sugar cane fields into other crops. Castro would periodically come up with some ideas that he could divert the attention of the average Cubans and show how the superiority of socialism and whatnot.

Yes, Cuban doctors are well trained, but they LACK EQUIPMENT! My mother sent to her brother not 3 months ago a blood pressure monitor and a diabetes blood sugar tester because their local hospital had none! Can you believe that a hospital has NO DIABETES TESTER? There is no modern equipment there, they train the doctors very well but they have a severe shortage of equipment and nothing that is remotely modern (oh, there may be a hospital somewhere in Havana that is well stocked or that got rounded up all the equipment they could muster so that they could use to film a deceptive 'documentary' like Sicko...). My uncle has had a sore knee for 20 or more years, the most they give him when it gets real bad is 3-4 aspirins when he is forced to go to the hospital because of the pain.

When a socialist like Maradona goes to Cuba to rehab, of course their diverting whatever resources they need. It becomes a commie propaganda event. When Saddam Hussein goes to Cuba for surgery, same thing. All the other left-leaning countries always spotlight the 'marvelous Cuban medical system' only to show the marvels of socialism and such - basically to give their own regimes something to strive for. That is the thing, all these regimes, the Hugo Chavez's of the world, they always prop up the Cuban way of doing things, that filters out and people start buying it hook, line and sinker. A movie like Sicko then reaffirms it, sorry but that is a total lie as far as Cuban health care really is.

Yes, Cuban doctors are well trained, but the health care system in Cuba is a total ruins due to lack of modern equipment and medicine!

You're as brain washed as you consider them to be mate.

Agreed on the general state of the hospitals, although they're plentiful they're nothing like the ones you enjoy in the US but I point out, and you failed to acknowledge, their system is a hell of a lot better than it's neighbours that you should be comparing Cuba against. There is sufficient medicine but sometimes not the brand names that you enjoy, sorry to point out but it's due to the illegal blockade of Cuba that's been going on for a little while.

Illegal as it goes against UN resolutions continually.

It would probably help if you lived there for a while mate as it's natural that your view is slanted by the anti Cuba agenda set by many Cuban Americans.

Yikes, this was getting hot and heavy. Not what I envisioned when I joined a couple days back! It's somewhat personal though as I must suffer through my mom's calls to Cuba that end in tears where my uncle describes his ailments & pains (he's 90) amongst other things and then people trying to tell of the wonderous Cuban health care system...

I will promise to stay clear of any more Cuba-talk from here on out! Toffee-talk for me from now on! (y)
