Current Affairs Critically ill man is former Russian spy

BTW, Question Time tonight: it'll be chocca with the usual Tories and Tory apologists (including that public schoolboy Dimbleby) and I doubt very much that the stories in recent days about Rees-Mogg's company investing in a Russian bank that had been sanctioned in the past (and after he called this week for more sanctions) or the Tory hierarchy's involvement with Cambridge Analytica's parent company will be given a mention.

...but last week Jeremy Corbyn's name was dragged through the mud without foundation for a good half hour.

The good old impartial "auntie Beeb". If I had it within my powers I'd close that empire of evil down and bulldoze all its buildings.

If anyone says anything that goes against the government line they will be pulled up by Dumbleby and accused of speculation or something equivalent. I doubt whether Rees Mogg or Tory funding from dodgy Russians will be mentioned. I would guess there's a good chance that Corbyn's hat will be, though.

That's not the only thing praying on his mind.

Gove faces fresh scrutiny over school sexual abuse case | Politics ...

"The Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, who has connections to Downside school, did not respond to the Guardian’s questions about whether he had discussed the investigation with Gove.

Lady Gillian Rees-Mogg, the MP’s mother, was the school governor with responsibility for child protection at Downside for some of this period. Her role, mentioned in evidence at the IICSA inquiry, is recorded in a July 2009 Downside school pamphlet on child protection and a subsequent Downside school parents handbook for 2010-11.

The abbot of Downside, Dom Aiden Bellenger, officiated at Jacob Rees-Mogg’s wedding in 2007, reciting a Catholic mass in Latin at the service in Canterbury Cathedral. The MP, whose constituency is next door to Downside, has spoken at Downside".

No wonder the crank had a face like a wet weekend in Blackpool, the other day in parliament.

It will be interesting to see what line the state controlled bbc push tonight.
Imagine that was all about a high profile Labour MP?! It'd be 24 hour news for a week.

So, just to recap: no proof of who did what in Salisbury, and no one on the international stage gives a flying one about the pathetic May Government's attempt to apply sanctions against Russia, so that flossy headed blonde muppet invokes Godwin's Law.

Just call an election so we can get shut of you grotesque bellends, FFS.

Well the USA have just announced that they will expel 60 Russians and 14 EU countries together will expel a similar number.......

It seems that the main EU countries (imagine that) have decided that the evidence against Russia is overwhelming and are backing the UK over this one. Apparently at least one Russian diplomat will be sent packing from Dublin tomorrow so there is likely to be reciprocal action against us.

Amazing what can happen when the EU take a collective decision on an international issue such as this one. I'm not sure the UK will be getting the same level of support after Brexit..

I’m pretty sure that it’s being done on a country by country basis. But taking the bite on your comment, I’m pretty sure it will or maybe the EU would prefer that we remove our defensive military forces from supporting EU states....nice try but no coconut.......

Theoretically, yes. But in reality ? Suppose we'll have to wait and see.

One day, when a Russian fleet sails around the western coast of Ireland and decides that it quite fancies stopping off and staying in Galway for a while, without your permission, on whose support will you look for ? Obviously not being in NATO you wouldn’t dream of asking them, so I wonder what your EU friends would do. No doubt one or two would helpfully point out that you should indeed have joined NATO, but alas it’s too late. Obviously within the day or so, Northern Ireland would be awash with British troops and hardware, but not being in the EU we couldn’t go over the hard border helpfully insisted on by the EU to help, so who would ?

Now obviously this would never happen, it just couldn’t or could it. So before you enjoy, or not, whether the EU would ever support the U.K. in the future, you might just want to reflect upon your own security, having had a free ride all these years......

Just kidding of course, but what if it really happened........
