The spy in the bag case... the head of MI6 attended that funeral. Apparently that's unheard of. Until I just told you of course.

It’ll be interesting if the government pulls the England team from the World Cup.......

Not a chance, the Tory government will want to move this along as quickly as possible, appear to finger wag on one hand and with other point to thread needle street and our financial services in general. It will be oh dear rogue agent, and BoJo will continue to auction his tennis dates for dodgy Russian rubles for the greater good of the party.

Remember when a whistleblower on dodgy dossiers was found dead in a park in London? Which party was in charge then?

A nerve agent was used to try to murder a former Russian spy and his daughter, police have said. Sergei and Yulia Skripal were found unconscious in Salisbury on Sunday afternoon and remain critically ill.

A police officer who was the first to attend the scene is now in a serious condition in hospital, Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, head of Counter Terrorism Policing, said.

Mr Rowley would not confirm the exact substance identified. He said: "Having established that a nerve agent is the cause of the symptoms leading us to treat this as attempted murder, I can also confirm that we believe that the two people who became unwell were targeted specifically."

The Russians don't respect any other states sovereignty. When I say Russians I'm referring to the government I don't want people think I'm condemning a people.

They don't respect the UN. They don't respect anything. They deserve some real sanctions. You can't go around actively bypassing UN sanctions on NK, invade Ukraine/Crimea, Syria is a mess but I don't think they are to blame for that. They certainly haven't helped.

And you certainly can't go around killing people in other countries borders like this. A message needs to be sent through UN sanctions.

Used to murder would suggest they died, bad reporting

Assuming you American given the user name, can I just say your post made me laugh, want me to go through a full list of how the Americans have respected state sovereignty over the past 70 years, or how the flour international law when it suits them, will even throw a list of which countries it arms for giggles?

Look at your own house first mate.

..I was wondering if this is getting any coverage in Russia (@bluestevon).

Aye mate, needless to say the coverage is reporting the facts of the matter, which is how it should be, the free /cough media seemed to have already tried and convicted it as a government sanctioned action.

Needless to say the media coverage isn't very sympathetic to a man who was a traitor who passed on named and put lives of fellow agents at jeopardy.

Imagine how a mi5 agent who spied for Russia and passed to them the identities and location of British agents would be viewed by British media if something happened to him for example, think the tone of reporting would be a little different...

My own take on this, the man made a lot of enemies, not least amongst fellow agents who he betrayed, these agents I'm assuming would be able to access what was used and would have the ability to exact revenge. This ofc is not even being reported as a possible option.

If the Russian government wanted him dead that badly, then why did they trial him, imprison him, and allow him to leave in a prisoner exchange, in short he would have been dead already, rather than wait till it causes a maximum diplomatic incident.

Wouldn't even discount completely someone doing this to cause said incident, on either side of the divide...

It's weird the way the Russians insist on assassinating people by methods which pretty much scream that it was them that did it.

I get that that's the point and they want the world to know it, but it's still weird.

Even stranger that they do it to a bloke they wanted dead so much that they tried and imprisoned him and the let him leave after about four years to Britain in a prisoner exchange, common sense alone would suggest if they wanted him dead they could have done so at any point.

Common sense would also suggest that they regarded him as no risk, threat and so why would they go to this extreme years after to do something...
