The rain, it raineth every day
An excellent day.
I don’t even think it’s should have been out according to the laws of the game.Where are we standing on Mankad ?, particularly on yesterday's Chatlie Dean dismissal. I'm old school so think it's disappointing to see. A warning first would be in the spirit of the game, I can live with that.

Is it not the case that the ball is considered coming into play from the moment the bowler starts his/her run in? That is evident from what you have copied and pasted: '...from the moment the ball comes into play until the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the non striker is liable to be Run out...' The ball comes into play the moment the bowler takes his/her first step on his/her run up to the crease. Nothing more complicated than that. Dean got it wrong completely by being out of the crease before the ball had been bowled.I don’t even think it’s should have been out according to the laws of the game.
Laws say you should be in your ground until the “expected release point” I thought Dean did that.
Also worth noting that the laws permit batsmen to steal a run while a bowler is running up, can you imagine that not actually being that hard with a long run up such as Hazelwood’s. Would the people who say the laws permit it so it’s ok be ok with that one?
