Cricket

Where are we standing on Mankad ?, particularly on yesterday's Chatlie Dean dismissal. I'm old school so think it's disappointing to see. A warning first would be in the spirit of the game, I can live with that.
Without first issuing a warning, its totally out of order and I'd be embarrassed to take a wicket like that.

Its needs to be taken out of the game and the laws need to be changed. If a batsman is trying to steal ground at the non strikers end then the umpires should call them one short or call dead ball. They certainly shouldn't be given out.

I've always seen it as pathetic to try and run someone out like that. I've only seen it once in my time in club cricket and its the only time I've ever lost it on a cricket field lol

I actually don't think she was deliberately trying to steal ground either, stills of the incident are very deceptive.
You can see here, she watches the bowler until the last second, and then moves. We'll end up with the non striker having to watch the bowler all the time which will negate the quick single. If that's how they want to wine, fine, but next time England bowl against India they should do the same, for the first few overs, see how they like it.

It's very simple. Batsman (or Batsperson, if one is PC) stays in the crease at the non-striker's end until the ball is delivered. Once it has left the bowler's hand, they can head several yards up the pitch should a quick single be on.

Dean moved a couple of yards or so up the pitch. She MUST know the rules. Absolutely stupid to move out of the crease given the balance of the game.

No sympathy, and I say that as one who played village and league cricket as a top order batsman in my younger years.
