Ridiculous that Virdi is playing for Somerset. Signed for this one game because Leech is with England. Especially ridiculous when they already have a frontline spinner in Van Der Merwe. Lancs are without Parkinson so are playing the inexperienced Morley rather than trying to sign an experienced pro, let alone someone who not too long ago was tipped for England.
Not only do Somerset gain but so do Surrey as he's playing against one of their main championship rivals and could play a role in Somerset drawing or even winning the game. In addition, Virdi is getting some handy match practice just before Surrey might need him on drier pitches.
The rule needs tightening.
