Cricket

I asked him after the game can he please get in the England team so we don’t have to suffer Zak Crawley any more

He laughed, said he’s trying
In that Freddie Flintoff documentary 85 percent of the current team private schoolboys ......
The old school tie regime that has dogged cricket for generations......
My secondary modern school had two teachers who loved cricket - who stayed back late we had nets etc plus a team in a league from year two - five - I played for the fifth year team when I was in the third year team - I regret not going to Huyton cricket club at the age of 16 years old - invited , but loved football too much .....

I loved cricket .....

I've switched to watch Surrey trying to bowl out Yorkshire - Jamie Overton steaming in and the ball swinging.

I see Essex won yesterday with the spinners taking 15 of the wickets. With Harmer now off to play for SA I wonder if the Chelmsford pitches will miraculously turn from dust bowls to green-tops like they used to be.

Ha ha they've gone off for bad light at Scarborough!

Three wickets for Jack Morley - bowling beautifully. Just shows what young players can do if given the chance.

44-3 with youngsters Lammonby and Goldsworthy at the crease and Rew to come.

74-3 at lunch, really good battle between Morley and Lammonby, who looks a player.

Yorkshire 6 down at lunch so Surrey still in with a chance of winning. Tom Lawes looks promising for them.

Great to see two youngsters playing with such determination and intelligence. Pity they're playing against Lancs!

Rew looked promising in the U19 World Cup, alongside Lancs' Boyden, Bell and Aspinwall, but this is a different side to him.

Meanwhile Surrey need 195 to win in 37.5 overs with 9 wickets left. Burns out last ball before tea.

Good effort by Lancs to reduce Somerset to 213-7 in 94 overs, but the pitch was the only winner. A career best 5-69 off 35 overs for excellent Jack Morley, while Lewis Goldsworthy scored a gutsy 73no to add to his 1st innings century, his efforts putting some of his more experienced teammates to shame.

Meanwhile Surrey scored 228-6 to beat Yorkshire with 3 balls remaining, an incredible win given they conceded 521 in the 1st innings. County cricket at its best, and the Lancs game was pretty good too. By my reckoning Surrey have 165 pts, Hants 150 and Lancs 3rd with 137.
