India who were about 700 without loss after day one are suddenly looking defeat in the face on day four.

You just don't get such swings of fortune with one side massively on top then losing in one day cricket. India may yet still win such is test cricket.

With so many either out injured or unavailable for England, including one of only two world class cricketers, their talisman Ben Stokes, if India can't best England in this series then they may as well give up.

It seems when England and India meet its virtually decided on who is at home and the series scoreline rarely close. Despite England's absentees their record at home against India is incredibly one sided something like 13-3 in the last few series.

I thought this weakened England team had no chance but perhaps India will prove me wrong

Exactly right, apart from Root we don't have a good batting side. If India get a lead of 150+ we could be struggling. In our first innings, 8 batsmen made a total of 72 runs.

Well obviously we do have a chance, I was stating my position before the test not now.

They're 79 ahead with s long tail, two wickets and it could be quick - it's not the most likely result now but at lunch it probably was.

Bairstow and Burns made 110 between them, even taking away Joe's 180 leaves easily enough runs if we were to win.

I don't see any agreement.

Very good last session. An absorbing days play with some great defensive batting and really pleased for Moeen.England slight favourites but we need early wickets,don’t want to be chasing more than 180.

154 the lead, the tail exposed and a fresh new dukes ball available. England had the momentum as Kohli desperately screamed from the pavilion to come off for bad light. Good to see three for Mark Wood and Moeen's couple late on which has swung the match perhaps decisively England's way.

Pant is the danger but with the pitch turning and India choosing not to select their top spinner this is a real opportunity to wrap up the tail and have no time pressure in getting the runs.

Yes it was great to see Wood rewarded for his efforts on a slow pitch. All to play for now. Enjoyed watching two out of form players showing grit and determination.

Would be tempted to open with Burns and Hameed as Sibley batting slowly may take a chance of victory away.
