Another absolutely rubbish innings by Sibley. What is the point of someone who needs to bat over 2 sessions to make a 50

I've said for over a year, he's just not good enough to me, and crucially doesn't look like he ever will be. Crawley looks a bit of a way off, but there is talent there. Same for em with Lawrence, Pope etc. There have been moments where they look like Test cricketers. Sibley just doesn't.

I suspect Sibley would snatch your hand off for a four hour 50!

Never a test player - shouldn't play for England again but I suspect he will.

Hameed presumably next in line. Much more technically correct, although I think his recall, like his original selection, is premature.

Only managed to catch the last hour but that was truely an abysmal day all round. I really hope the Ashes gets postponed so give us some extra time to sort our hopeless batting out.

And is Chris Silverwood really up to the job as coach? Seems a bad choice and out of his depth to me.

Should split the roles and make him white ball coach. The test batting is shambolic and needs fresh ideas. They also need to stop persisting with the Sibley Burns pairing because even if they get through an hour, they haven't hurt the bowling side. They don't even look to run singles.

Good points. I do have to question Graham Thorpe as batting coach as well though. He was one of my favourite England batsman ever, but none of our batters seem to be making much progress under his tutoring.

Being completely outclassed here. I know no one wants to say it, but I don't think Broad and Anderson should play together anymore. They should be rotated, and only very occasionally picked together.

The bowling has been one dimensional so far on a wicket offering help
