He's been awful in this game but I am a Jos fan. Not convinced on Foakes against good quick bowling. Other option is Bairstow and I think that ship has sailed.

Not sure if there are any other options out there on the county scene?
Alex Davies from Lancashire ; played for the Lions and England U 19's, averages 34.60 with a highest score of 147.

I too am a Buttler fan but Id rather see Foakes.

Agree on Bairstow. Talented but let him play limited overs.

I want my keeper to bat 7 which makes me favour Buttler. If they are looking the keeper to bat 6 then they will need to look elsewhere.

Buttler at 7 is the man who can score quickly with the tail. I dont think that role suits Foakes.

Alex Davies might be a year away if Lancs have a good showing in the County Championship.

As above, magical stops at times but still got something there where you question if he'll make it.

Roots captaincy leaving a lot to be desired this match. Woakes the pick of the bowlers and got 5 overs?

Archer a bit of a worry as well. Real lack of control compared to stokes woakes and broad. Why on earth did he not carry on with those who were on a roll last night??

Those 30 runs are the final nail to be honest.

Archer has been poor all summer tbh, he's had very small patches of form but on the whole been easily the weakest link of the seamers, has to be rotated or dropped imo.

Needs to turn his attractive 40s and 50s into big scores. Gives it away too often at the moment. Had a recurring finger injury for last two seasons which meant he didn't keep wicket, but is fit this season and keeping again. Big ask to keep and open the batting but does it well, just needs to concentrate more when well set. His only 100 last season was when Lancs faced a big score for the first time and he needed to bat for a long time - shows he can do it!

Durham 134-6 at tea. Two run outs and two wickets for Richard Gleeson. Alex Lees top scored for Durham with 66 before he was run out just before tea. He was badly dropped by Jennings on 61, a straightforward slip catch.

Regarding potential England keepers, James Bracey is probably next in line after Foakes. Shame he's not playing in the Bob Wyillis trophy instead of hanging around Old Trafford with no chance of playing.
