Great idea not to go with Crawley. Selection and captaincy shocking, fielding woeful (how many missed chances inc. Missed run outs) and how typical horrific batting.

Just a poor poor batting line up though.

I think it's pretty clear now how poorly England bowled. If you don't pitch the ball up then you don't get many wickets. So many poor balls on the pads or banged in short.

Leaving the extra batsman out to accommodate all the bowlers is fine against poor opposition, but was never likely to work against a decent side.

My man Sam Curran left out and they struggle. Dunno what he has to do to stop being dropped.

I think it shows how poorly we bowled, but also how ordinary those 2 openers are. Sibley and his technique is a walking wicket. If you can hold a line and nibble it about a bit, you will get him out a lot. The rea downside to him, is even if he gets through that spell, he wont punish you with. Just hold it outside off stump and he just eats up overs.

Yeah they are better openers than some who have been tried, but they have technical issues definitely. I wouldn't overly criticise them though. If you put the ball in the right areas on that wicket then batsmen should struggle.

I just think England bowled far too short. They got Pakistan 50-3 in the morning session then started banging it in with a new ball. They need to start making hard decisions to leave out one of the bowlers and pick a balanced side. I'm not a huge fan of leaving out the spinner but Bess is not bowling that well. The other option is to leave out a seamer, and on current form for me it has to be Anderson. He carried virtually no threat on a wicket which should have suited him down to the ground. The team have fared far better recently when he hasn't played. I know it sounds harsh, but I don't think he's in the best 11.

I said fairly early on I'd have gone without the spinner. 1 for 74, bowling at the tale and not at their best player, is a really poor return from 20 overs.

As for the batsman, maybe, Burns didn't get out to anything special though. I think they both have big technical issues, certainly in this country. Sibley is just much too square on. You'll get away with it in county cricket, and there's no doubt he has great concentration, but at the very top level its a very open technique for me. He will also not hit a bowler off the line/length. Youd love to bowl to him. Batsman have to find a way to survive as Pakistan did.
