107-10 on a good batting wicket with that demon bowler Joe Root decimating their batting.

South Africa are now a spineless, deflated and defeated side, on the floor and busy trying to tunnel lower.

Rain isn't really forecast to any real extent tomorrow but it's only a complete washout that'll save them. For the fight they haven't shown they don't deserve even the hope of a draw.

The last pair's hitting showed, as with England's bottom order and Mark Wood's six hitting extravaganza show, that this was a batsman's paradise all along.

A truly shameful performance from the Saffers put in true perspective by their non batters as England defeated their team and the far, far tougher opponent, the weather, to go 2-1 up.

South Africa beat a flu-ridden weak team dragged out of their sick beds to win the first test but as the flu was seen off the true strength of the two sides has shown through.

Thank goodness it wasn't a ridiculous two test mini series which heavily favour the home team and give no chance of coming back later in the series. The flu would then have meant that even this South Africa couldn't be beaten in the series.

Two test series are a real blight on the game

For Johannesburg i think theyll stick with Bess to rotate the seamers, if Archer is fully fit then Curran looks the man to miss out for me.

Wood, Broad, Archer, Stokes and Bess looks a good attack for the Wanderers.

Five seamers seems overkill and Bess can contain allowing short spells from the really quick Wood and Archer with Broad opening the bowling. Stokes isn't normally overused these days as a seamer so Bess will play a vital role.

Sam Curran hasn't any real pace and the Wanderers is a ground where real pace can pay dividends, the tail will be longish but Bess has made a test fifty and Wood showed he can be a useful hitter.

Buttler is under serious pressure for his place and urgently needs to contribute with the bat, Ben Foakes looks almost a shoe in for Sri Lanka and Buttler won't find it easy to get back in. Both Foakes and Bairstow are his competition and both will be eyeing up the keeper role after Sri Lanka.
