Not too sure why Mark Wood wasn't given the new ball surely bowl your speedster with the new ball, echoes of Du Plessis choosing the new boy and dobber bowler Paterson instead of his big gun Rabada when taking their new ball.

Du Plessis rightly copped a lot of criticism over his curious choice of new ball pairing and now Root follows suit. While giving Curran an over or two with the new ball might have been worth a go in case he swung it, five overs and then the main artillery was beyond me.

Wood and Bess are England's main threat here.

Pope definately has something about him, I actually think Sibley and crawley do as well. Ben Stokes is the best cricketer in the world, complete 3 format player who changes games and has the bottle to back up his talent

Throw Rory Burns into the equation as well and things are looking better at the top of the order.
