The rain, it raineth every day
Lancashire 47-1, 5 overs.
Won't be seeing him him this season that's for sure.Buttler signed a new 3 year deal during the game too.
1 game a year, I suspect
Unless we get to finals dayWon't be seeing him him this season that's for sure.
England squad announcement at 11, probably 13 man squad I would think
I reckon Burns*, Roy, Denly, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Bairstow, Ali, Archer, Broad, Anderson, Woakes and Curran
* Speculation he could go but Root's comments regarding the wicket at Lord's, probably make him staying more likely despite him looking all at sea and out of any sort of nick.
Leach is a bowler and will be left out after bowling three expensive and unproductive overs imo.
Dawid Malan, Sibley, Crawley and the walking wicket James Vince - guaranteed to hit a promising 10 or 20 before giving it away yet again for the 900th time - all could feature probably in place of the hapless Rory Burns
Don't see burns scoring many runs. At least Vince usually gets to 20 before nicking off
Agreed he so often looks a million dollars before nicking off as usual.
Vince has been tried so many times now and was the disasterous substitute batsman that almost single handedly undermined our world cup challenge, more in who he replaced than his actual inability to come good tbf.
As with any constantly failing batsman the word goes round and bowlers worldwide now have a nailed on blueprint on how to dismiss him cheaply.
Burns is dreadfully out of nick averaging only about 36 in the championship atm but has probably been kept in due to the lack of any suitable alternative. When he's playing well his technique is ugly but it looks absolutely woeful when he's not in form.
Dawid Malan made a century against Australia eighteen months ago and has second division runs this term but it's that second division tag that has possibly cost him.
Young Sibley and Zac Crawley are decent championship players but aren't exceptional, debutants in the ashes probably thought not worth the risk unless outstanding.
The xi to start is highly predictable for me with the only question Woakes or Broad.
My prediction therefore is Burns, Roy, Denly, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes *, Archer, Anderson.
* or Broad with Archer batting ahead of him at 9
