Actually Essex beat Surrey in a South group game but more surprisingly up North, Durham's game against Northants managed to beat the weather, and with World Cup heroes Ben Stokes and Mark Wood watching from the sidelines, Durham managed to get a valuable win on a day of washouts.

Batted well, bowled okay, fielded brilliantly.
Maxwell very, very good batting and fielding.
Croft top scored.
Jenning two superb shies at the stumps that both hit, but batsmen had made their ground.
Only one fielding error by Lancs, Parkinson that could have seen another run-out.
Early days, but if they continue in this form, they'll take some beating.
Oh, and a very, very good crowd, I'd say over 12,000 from where I was sat.

13,000. Interesting that they used a drop in pitch today, consisting of a mixture of artificial and real grass. Will be used in the Hundred competition next year. Seems to have played well.
