Some decent death bowling to get over the line. Joffra Archer will be playing in the world cup though. They need his pace. And possibly Wood. Willey bowled well today but the other quicks were pretty poor.

The pitches are so flat nowadays, I'd hate to be a fast bowler.

Agree entirely, this flat pitch seems to be the ideal in most World Cups, its what the organising committee mostly desire, if possible, and its real pace that is needed.

Willey showed his usefulness with his 'death' bowling at the finish and has probably bowled himself into the team.

Woakes looks still short of full fitness but has enough in the bank to probably make it in the squad.

Wood if fit has to be picked, he showed real pace in the Windies and Jofra Archer WILL be picked.

That leaves Plunkett who lacks penetration, those short balls into the batsmen not having the menace they formerly did, and Tom Curran battling it out for the last available place.

(Denly is kept as the spare spinner to cover Moeen and Rashid while also covering as an extra batsman, but has shown neither with bat or ball that he can contribute much and could well lose out to Dawson imo)

I think the tournament is going to be a complete run fest, and the difference makers will be wrist spinners, and quicks who can get it up above 90.

I think England have the best side on paper. They have a deep batting line up. Lots of big hitters. A reliable accumulater in Root. A good fielding unit. 2 bowlers who can bowl over 90. A left armer option in Willey. A leg spinner who gets people out. And two all rounders in Stokes and Moeen.

The top 7 picks itself. Can see the bowling line up being Wood Archer Woakes/Willey Rashid along with Stokes and Moeen. No idea why Stokes is barely bowling though. He can send it down near 90 too. Is he injured?

Possibly know who they're definitely picking and wanted a good look at Willey, Woakes and Plunkett.

Archer rotated points to them already deciding they've seen enough imo

Agree about Plunkett, he's now 34 and whatever zip he had had gone.
