Yeah I know. Wasn't he the one who just ****ted it whichever way he was facing and had about as much panache as a fat bird on a tightrope.

You want 'panache' for £2M?

The box-to-box player you're looking for would cost a fortune or require a scouting system that extends to kidnapping promising youngsters from barios in South America and transporting them to this country.

Arteta cost 2 million.

No idea mate, I never wanted Carsley. I would prefer us spending money on that player rather than wasting it on another centre back.

Arteta cost 2 million.

Amen.

We need more creativity in midfield I agree , but we also need a better defensive midfielder too .

As much as we might not like it , one of our big players will need to be replaced , or assigned another position .

Push Cahill into a 2nd strikers role and replace Osman and Neville .

Carsley was immense in the season we finished 4th, he was also ridicously consistent and one of the most underrated Everton players of the last few years.

And does he screen the defence too?

Yes, if you watch his game closely. His positioning is excellent and he's certainly not scared to put his foot in. He's not just a creative midfielder, he's much more than that. Arteta's a very disciplined player.

If you can keep the ball and retain possession then you’ll do far less defending. Keep the ball away from the opposition and they won’t be able to hurt you.

Our football improved massively when Carsley left to be honest, he never offered an outlet to the back four and he was a specialist player, strictly defensive.
