Current Affairs Cost of living…

I fear that milennials and younger generations are going to have huge mental issues as a result of all this.

I know far too many people in their thirties still living at home. It's not sustainable.

Spot on, everyone I know, who`s kids have their own places, have either been helped out massively by their parents / grandparents / both or are living in area, that they ideally wouldn`t have wanted to really live in, as that`s all they could afford to rent or buy in.

Just had the same from my supplier, 3.

Going up 4.5% every year from now on, with no explanation !!!!!
Well they have to do 3.9% regardless due to Ofcom. But most do that on top of RPI which is currently 13.4%. So 4.5% is good if it’s just a set rate they are doing each year.

Our rent has gone up to £750 a month for a three bed in a decent area.

Seems decent to me, but rent has increased £80 over the last two years and will continue to rise I fear.

We'll be ready to buy next year though so will hopefully be out of here soon.

Just warming my tootsies around my log coal fire ..... Go & have a look what China & Russia - Poland with their massive coal industry burn .... for industry Poland have 300 coal mines in operation..... FFS - a bit pointless us going green till they step in line IMO ... I burn smokeless coal & dry kiln logs - @roydo has a log fore too - good on him .....
China and Russia have a lower carbon footprint than us, per capita, and that's whilst manufacturing mountains of junk for us to consume iirc.

I know it's hard to cut back once that meth takes a hold mate. I also used to look at the trailer next door and how much they cooked up, the mess they were in when they couldn't get a fix and thought I was okay, I was in control. Well doo-doo happens right. The meth's in control Joey, and addiction is addiction. Just say no, it starts with you and not someone elses caravan.

I feel for a lot of our generation but I also know many who pish a lot of money up the wall.

Mate of mine who's a year older than me still lives at his mar's but earns 34k a year yet never has any money at the end of the month. God knows what he blows it on as he doesn't pay rent or bills.

Breaking Bad

It's gonna break Joey, and it's not gonna be good. Flush your coal down the loo before you take another hit dude.
My heating system is far more economical than gas - the CO 2 from gas is about 20% higher that coal & logs - my system runs 8 radiators plus all the hot water I need for 7 months of the year - do you really trust any Government not to milk the green issue in the UK ?

We are a small island comparing the big countries who have no intention of going green is a big oversight - plus you need special coal to make steel .....quality steel not recycled rubbish ....

I’m 30 and am on pretty much a regular salary. Moved home last year to save for a mortgage and it’s now becoming apparent that it’s unattainable, meanwhile rent prices are that high that unless I want to move into a grim shared house I wouldn’t really be able to afford rent anywhere. It’s hard because from 2016 to 2020 I was on a bit less money, but could comfortably afford a nice flat with 2 bedrooms and a balcony right in Liverpool centre - now I’d struggle to find a flat in Kenny for the same money

Can't you go on Council lists up in Liverpool?

Until the UK moves away from housing being a commodity to store and make money and back to something to be living in, this issue will continue. There are so many levers that need pulling and changed pretty much would take a generation if not more to rectify. Headway is now starting in Wales but it's taken some years to full throttle in social housing build, my local authority is building massive family houses for rent early well above private sector standard, I'll post pictures later...

Is it still the case that if you're skint you should cancel your Netflix to make you not skint?

The phone and broadband hikes are obscene and nothing short of criminal.
For anyone on benefits there are social tariffs with suppliers which can reduce the cost of your broadband. It's not very well advertised (Suprise there) but can be useful to those that qualify.
