I was looking randomly yesterday at rental prices. We have a mortgage thankfully as to rent a 4 bed house now in Southport the cheapest house was £1350 a month. Absolutely shocking. I fear it's going to get much worse for those on low incomes..
We've had 9 interest rate rises in the last year or so with more to come, i don't even want to know what our monthly repayments are going to be when the fixed term ends.

More coming apparently as private sector pay is soaring.
I don't know if that's the same reasons as the rises over here but when you've got households with 2 decent wages coming in barely able to tread water then something stinks. No idea how single people or the under 30's will ever be able to get on the property ladder unless their parents are rich basically.

We were renting in Barnet, last stop on the Northern Tube line, and moved out in December 2021. At the time we were paying £1250 for a 2 bed flat in a nice area.

I’ve just had a look now and the cheapest flats are £1550

That’s a 22% rise in 14 months. Insane.
Worth noting this isn’t unique to the U.K. In Portugal rent prices have increased about 40% in the last 5 years. Landlords can only impose small amounts of increase on sitting tenants however.
When the min wage is 760 EUR a month and average rent is about 1000 EUR you can see trouble is just around the corner.

Needs to be riots and revolution all over the place against all this. Sadly we're too busy fighting amongst each other and too lazy as a whole to attempt to do anything about it.

They, as in those in charge, seemed to attempt to hide their little conflicts of interest and rule flaunting as they got rich but the last few years they just don't bother. No matter who you vote in they're only servants to the large industries like banking, oil, mining and grubby property developers. Meanwhile go to emergency at the hospital and you might get seen inside 12 hours if you're lucky.
I watched a video recently. Possibly even a Russell Brand one.. but the gist of it was that the western governments, UK and US, are more than happy to keep Ukrainian war ticking along because they're making huge amounts of money from it. Not only the loan's and weapons sold to Ukraine, but the future mineral rights there too.. PLUS it's the perfect excuse to put all of our utility bills up massively and blame the war! We are screwed!!

Like you said, it's time for a revolution. I'd happily see the Tories swinging from trees to be honest right now. I'm really getting to the point where something needs to give!! 🤬🤬

Pretty sure the weapons from the west are being given mate. Personally, I wouldnt base my critical analysis of world events on sommet Russell Brands opines.

Same for us mate. Coming off a 5 year 1.9% rate in the summer is going to hit us hard.

Think I mentioned earlier in this thread, when that happens we're going to be around £700 a month worse off when considering all the other increases. Utility bills, nursery fee increases, food/petrol etc.

The worrying thing is we never had £700 a month spare, so what gives?

And I genuinely think the government (or whoever is responsible for the figure) are massively under calculating the inflation rates. Walking round the supermarket, prices on every day products seem to have gone up around 30% and our utility bills have gone up around 120%.
