Jesus Christ, how do you manage with that?

If that was us we are moving back home to our parents after setting fire to the house.
Doing more overtime in work mate. I was on a really good deal to be fair. Just missed out on fixing on a good rate. Now need to ride this out as refusing to fix on the current rates. If we didn’t have the rise of energy bills and food etc it wouldn’t be that bad.

Xmas has been a killer.

I told the missus we had to take it easy this Christmas, judging by our bank account, she took no notice at all.

We said the same. We still gone silly on the kids but being sensible on each other.

I’m working Boxing Day all the way through to the 3rd Jan. That includes being on call so can be called out every night at any time. However working all them bank holidays will help with funds. I’d normally just have it off, say fook the pay and have a great time with the family. Not a chance this year lol

Gonna flog the cottage in the spring. It was always Niks and my place, but it will be 18 months since she left us by then, and I think you need to move on, when ready.

Hopefully it will sell as a building plot, ( every other place in the village has been for the last 20 years) and some Elon Musk has sold a flat in Chelsea. It costs a lot to heat and pay a mortgage on what is essentially a 2 room place for one bloke.

Just got a sms to not worry about the base rate rise as they'll automatically readjust the direct debit on my variable rate.

Phew, all I have to do now is worry about how to pay it.
I got an email literally 5 mins after the interest news broke. They couldn’t wait to tell me am going to get further shagged. Wish they give it a day and pretend they where shocked lol

Jesus Christ! How do you absorb something like that?

Where do you find an extra £500 a month?
Realised how much I was spending on crap to be fair.

It’s gradually gone up like 50-70 quid a month and I was advised by a mortgage advisor it was going to keep going up. It would of been worse if I was on a fixed rate ending now and going onto another fixed rate. The jump would of felt worse as would of been immediate. As I went from fixed to variable, it has bummed me slowly.

I cancelled loads of subscriptions, only shop at aldi etc, cut down on takeaways etc etc. stopped buying clothes, only buy clothes if I really need them. I worked out I was getting a takeaway once a week. That was hundred quid a month alone. Don’t go the pub anymore, buy cans and sit in the house if want a drink. Save loads when you become boring. Well am not saving, it’s just going on interest on the mortgage lol.

Simply put that's a grim situation for you to have to face simply down to it being a country ran by idiots mate.

Glad you're managing to cope so far

So In other words you have had to remove all joy from your life. Just so you can give the bank's more money.
What a time to be alive

Thanks mate.

I’m lucky I can get overtime and had some savings to fallback on if needed. It’s crap having to dip into life savings to pay interest inflation though lol.

Genuinely would stress me out at nights and was struggling to sleep a few months ago. I remember watching the news and seeing a family who couldn’t afford a pot to piss in. Had damp all in the house and the kids where relying on free school meals to get by. Then I realised I’m lucky to still be able to pay the bills and eat. Just hope it turns around sooner rather than later.

Some world we live in.
