Also, Henry Ford didn't invent a V8 supercar, that was organic development from the initial models. The model T paved the way for future refinement and improvements.

Same with electric cars - the original, or even the current models will not be the final outcome, but they are paving the way for future improvements - batteries that may last over 1000 kms without charging, non hazardous components etc

Indeed, and the same should be done again. What didn’t happen was governments insisting on the introduction of the model T etc and forcing out the use of horse drawn vehicles. Let it evolve and eventually the best solutions will come through, don’t legislate in draconian manners to force the pace…people cannot afford it…..

I wasn't aware the government are insisting people buy electric cars. Is that the UK government or somewhere else?

Whichever government it is, I suppose they probably realise that ICE vehicles are causing a few more environmental concerns than horses though

No, they aren’t.

2030 - No more brand new non-hybrid ICE cars allowed to be sold.

2035 - No more brand new non-EVs allowed to be sold.

People will still be driving and buying second hand ICE cars for decades to come.

Vast majority won't be driving at all. Surely that's the logical outcome to electric only, high energy prices and a drive to use (much) less energy?

Going forwards we are going back to some form of mass transportation for the plebs and individual modes of transport will set aside for the most wealthiest. If we are lucky we will be afforded some sort of cooperative car share. Similar with meat or fruit veg, fresh organic produce will be the preserve of the richest, most will get "mush" a petra dish grown protein fibre etcetera, for our subsidence.

Soylent green...

0.5% onto the interest rate. Sort of expected. However if it goes up again next month then I think we are getting bummed.
The thought is up to 4.5% later this year.
The whole thing stinks of a massive cash grab, by corporations and banks.

I get the whole tackle inflation thing. But it just seems weird. People have less money in their pocket cause of inflation. I know, let's hammer them with a higher mortgage.
If people are going to have less money, let's do it properly and take even more.
You would think you would have a tipping point where somebody says, hold up a minute, maybe taking all the money out of people pockets might not be the best way to do this.
