Worst is the pricing of "street food" at restaurant prices.

Street food in any other country I know is cheap and affordable. Wouldn't touch anything over here, massive rip off.

I have a takeaway about every 3mths from local Chinese and go to restaurants once or twice a year now for special occasions and I research the menu and establishment meticulously beforehand to make sure its a quality and affordable place to eat.

Unless there's a massive change in how eating out is financed and charged it's done for me. Shame because it used to be something I really enjoyed.

And when you do go out and it’s garbage you are left wounded. Service is slow and food rubbish and then you see the bill. Used to eat often but very rarely now. For the prices you pay it needs to be excellent. And forget about tip now.

My partner and I used to enjoy going out for a meal midweek, kind of broke the week up a little. It’s become so expensive now we rarely bother going and prefer to get a kebab or kfc or similar. What we prefer to do now is wait until we’re both off work (usually a Saturday) and go out for the day visiting local beauty spots or walking through some forestry we’ve never been to, we always take a flask and some sarnies with us for lunch and on the way home we will sometimes stop off at a Brewers Fayre type place and have something to eat as they’re quite reasonable on price, if we dont fancy that it’s usually a takeaway Saturday though 😂

Yeah that's much better, we do something similar usually but I've just been a bit down about it with the freezing weather and difficult to access some places I'd like to go with pram.

Just crap that when we're out you can't just spur of the moment decide to have lunch out without me mentally rejigging my budget for the month.

We just find other options involving home cooking or take some homemade snacks out with us mainly now.

First table is a great app for discount restaurant tables for a treat though, worth checking out.

Mate, we will often pop to Iceland and get some chicken strips, chicken wings, mini sausage rolls etc and make ourselves a takeaway buffet …. Much cheaper and often nicer

£6.30 for a cruzcampo in the pub today.

Don’t mind paying that in town but the pub I was in was just a run of the mill place in melling.

And please do not quote this post telling me it’s piss or whatever. It’s just a pint in a pub on a Thursday afternoon.
Was in Berlin the other week and it was very rarely over 5euro for a pint or whatever the equivalent is, even in a craft brewery taproom we went to! All top quality too, which you can't always say over here
