It’s about to get worse, the minimum wage, NIC’s etc will see younger members of staff getting sacked, all costs to retail and service outlets are going through the roof and customer price rises are following. Welcome to Starmer and Reeves budget. It will of course only get worse after the next ‘interim’ budget which they will now have to do. They have screwed the economy….

Your summary of the problem is correct, however you have identified the wrong villain.

I own shares in several large retailers and energy producers, I would be prepared to accept a smaller dividend if it meant low paid staff were treated properly. Unfortunately most large shareholders won't.

It is corporate greed and demand for ever increasing profits that is the real villain here.

I agree with this. The large corporations could pay more tbf. It’s the small businesses, who actually employ an awful lot more people who are paying the price, and it’s the youngest and first job workers who will feel the pain. We had to let two young bar staff go, my mates pub which also does a lot of food has let five go so far. It’s a crying shame, but as pubs make almost no money these things are happening right now so as to try to save the facility and the rest of the employees…….

Should be boycotting cadburys anyhow. Glass and a half my azz. Sold out and changed the product to a much much more derivative cheaper effort.
Another bastion of british in the bin, alongside everything else.

Had a club biscuit the other day, haven't had one in ages. I'm sure you'll remember the advert...

Well not anymore, you could see the biscuit thru the bloody chocolate. Fumin'.
