Current Affairs Cost of living…

I work in an office and I honestly don't want to work beyond my next birthday (46). But I've got no real choice with the mortgage etc.

This is mostly due to apathy and ever increasing misanthropic intolerance of other people who dwell in offices. I don't care about your spreadsheet you've made solely to provide the impression you have a meaningful role.

I digress, the ideal is for those who want to continue working in some capacity to do so. Scaling back to p/t hours, doing voluntary work, or just a different type of job to get out of the house.

Another 35 years of feigning interest in spreadsheets and sneaking off to post on GOT as my sole daily pleasure. Ffs, shoot me now.
Just because you don't want to dosent mean you can't.. I doubt there's any carpenters at 71 who'd say they would be physically able to climb onto a roof and drag 2 by 4s around the place. I'm soley talking physically the desire to do so is another conversation. I'm 41 almost 42 I've done physical work in the past, I have a job now where if I avoid health issues I could work untill 71... the retirement age ( for state pension) in Ireland is 66 it's due to go up to 68 in 2026, it will most likely be 70 or over by the time I retire..

A couple of big jobs have fallen through so I won’t have enough earnings by the end of this tax year to sort my housing situation, so need to consider other options. Shared housing is a no go due to various factors.

Fortunately, I have half decent savings. I’m considering getting a bigger van to use for work/living in. It’d allow me to travel around for work, at least. I know of a good value storage facility I could leave my tools in when not used. Other than that I can only think of a residential caravan park with a static caravan etc.

Any ideas appreciated. I’m sure there’s things I’ve not considered.
