Back in the 80s when people were moaning about water quality and privatisation a waterboard big cheese said...yeah we know it's a worry etc but as of now it would only cost 37p to give people a litre of bottled water, but to fix all the problems and get us back to where we were in the 60s and 70s would cost 54p per litre.
Just sayin like.

Edit; but IMO,shareholders didn't like the 54p thing

They've paid out billions in shareholder profits, they've loaded their respective businesses with record debts, they've allowed the networks they've been trusted with to go to rack and ruin, polluted rivers and coastal regions, lied through their teeth about sewage dumping, and now have the bare faced audacity to claim poverty and require more money for doing the job they've failed thus far. Bin em, bin em all.

Should all be taken back over by the government. Water should be provided by not for profit companies! It's a disgrace!!

Lot of this anger has reached the "right papers" because many a holiday in their second homes have been wrecked as people have been swimming surfing water sporting in their own poop all summer, and seen their previous night snacks oysters and rib eye glaring back at them half digested.

Not sure this is the right thread for this but here goes. Yesterday my Daughter, she's 31 works 16 hours a week and a single mum, her Daughter is 8. Was informed by letter as from January her Dentist same as mine and wife, will be going private. But she can stay on if she can find £248 per year membership fee's and £104 for her Daughter p/year. Our MP, Derek Twigg has informed the Widnes public there are no more NH Dentists in our area taking on more patients, what shocked me is basically a Child is being charged to have a Dentist. Disgusting state of affairs in Tory Britain eh, though a couple of posters on here will rejoice at this and I don't mean Pete. Can't wait until these barstewards are voted out.

I’d seriously question that dentist - my dentist is a private one in SW1P, with an expert staff and in a converted house on Millbank, and it doesn’t charge a membership fee.

A checkup for a kid is £22, £65 for a new adult (£35 afterwards).

Those monthly fee dental arrangements can also be a form of dental insurance. I have never heard of a compulsory membership only arrangement.

As others have said, there is no membership fee, it’s almost certainly a Denplan insurance policy. NHS Dentists are as rare as hens teeth these days I’m afraid. Our Dentist went this way about 30 years ago unfortunately….

This might be worth a read…

To be fair mate, not certain need to read it properly but think that includes either 1 or 2 checkups and a clean plus 25% off a whitening.
But me personally I get two check ups and 2 cleans a year for £130 a year. Which works out a fair bit cheaper for me. Think it's wrong to charge children end of the day, we will pay for her if we have to, just think that is morally wrong, but maybe that's just me.
