Yeah calm down. You have taken what I have said and ran in a completely different direction there.

Your wife isn't exactly the same as a call centre transferring calls all day , or a coder typing codes in all day into a computer is she?

Times are worrying enough as it is, without you trying to find things to get heated about.

Unless you actually do think someone sat in an office putting numbers from a giant textbook all day is the same heroic sort of work as someone saving lives right now , and generally every day in their role.

From someone who’s wife is a front line nurse they do tend to get on their high horses a bit. Over everything not just the corona virus.

A slight diversion albeit relevant to the effects of this....

How many GOT dog owners notice that they are pucking up all the negativity and are more pettish, and more inclined to mope around looking up at us under sad looking eyes??

I have been chatting with other GSD owners in FB groups and it seems very real.

While looking after our human family let's try and keep the faithful mutts' spirits up as best we can.

Cats will just continue with their normal service!!

Cats will be depressed as well, at least when they realise this latest scheme of theirs has failed and that they’ll have to go back to the drawing board.

Lol dogs, yesterday morning I took our dog (Dixie) out for a walk so he could take a sh1t, so over the fields I go walked for about 30 minutes nothing doing so I went home let him go and within 10 seconds he's sh1t on the lawn. Life hasn't really changed much for the dog as we live on a farm and there's always someone around anyway, he's getting more exercise than usual playing fetch in the fields and going for more walks, he's probably loving it.

Look the point you're making makes rational and logical sense. But people need heroes right now. Visually, one's they can root for. Are you going to deny them of that? Even folks staying home right now are heroes. Give people that. Everyone is just trying to get through this.
Yes, they can root for heroes.

Those are the ones in masks and ppe who are treating the people on the wards right now. Generally it is no different to any other time neither, doctors and nurses generally save lives day to day even without a virus going about.

The image of a nurse right now should be championed , always should be the case.

My point was though not people calling NHS heroes though, it was NHS workers claiming appreciation for nothing. Thank you NHS I assume is for the tireless work right now saving lives during this crisis. Not for someone whos job is nothing to do with treating people.

The sentiment for the NHS is absolutely spot on. How many of us have had a loved one cared for or even saved because of doctors and especially nurses? Long overdue they get a little bit of love to this extent from the general public.

Admin staff can save lives in a round about way, some of my staff process cancer patients for example so it's down to them to get patients into the care system asap. Not taking that away from them, they do a brilliant job. And yes every single person in the NHS plays a part in making it work.

Doesn't make them hero's by default though, myself included

I guess this is a good example of what I have been referring to in regards to the media and how dangerous it has been over the past few weeks. How it's creating panic and worry every single day.

Heartbreaking story no matter what the details are, not something you ever want happening.

However it was reported as dying from the Corona virus making her the youngest person to die from the virus in the UK. I remember reading this story when it first came out , no under lying health conditions and succumbed to covid 19. Terrifying really.

The real story is that she died from a heart attack and not the virus. However by printing that story without fact checking , it's created worry that a young healthy person can just die from getting the virus. Which may or may not be the case , I'm no expert on the matter. But it's misleading the population of the country if they are reading stories that aren't true , printed in all their media sources for news.

It makes you wonder how many of these stories are misleading, how many people are marked as covid 19 deaths when they aren't but reported in the media.

All I'll keep saying is that the media are contributing to all the panic and worry , all the mental health issues that so many people are experiencing. This virus existing should he feared , but I worry people still fear it for all the wrong reasons.

Our cat is loving it because the wife and children have been home all week and out in the garden, so he's been eating all the grass and throwing up on the carpet.

It's all part of his master plan.

Sorry It's before the new movies but after the old ones.

I don't understand. But I need a break from Jar Jar anyhow!

Just on the "heroes" thing, my girlfriend works for Crisis Team in Bristol and was incredibly touched by the NHS street clap thing and says she doesn't really feel like she is part of it because she is mental health even though she is still seeing patients in their houses. I just think it's nice to see NHS staff appreciated.

I spent that day heroically drinking wine and watching the Toy Story films in chronological order while I wait to be sent the equipment for me to assess patients over the phone.

Actually what I thought was good was just the sense of community it brought, all neighbours on the street waving and saying hello to each other as they clapped who had never spoken despite years of living in such close proximity.

Let's get through this and get the bunting out for a street party.

I think anyone leaving their home to work right now is a hero. They are risking themself and their families leaving their house to work. Thank you key workers
I mainly agree with your point, but some people (like me) are still going out to work because they have a useless employer who uses the loophole of 'essential to travel for work' because we're not on the list stopping us from going out. Bigger ditherer than Moyes my boss. My work is by no means essential, I'd rather be holed up at home on 80% pay.

That's the other issue as well.

Everyone believing everything they read on Facebook.

I have no idea if that's true or not. However neither will the thousands of others sharing things like that. Anything that is posted online is shared and taken on face value. All you have to say is that it's from a doctor , China , a nurse etc and it becomes truth.
