Grassing people up for standing at their ma’s front door was never the right thing to do. Don’t let these serpents ever convince you that it was. That actually happened to a family member of mine too.

As above, there's a difference in the level of grassing. Some people needed to be reminded of their stupidity and educated on the danger they were potentially causing. This wasn't helped by the incompetence of the governments handling of the affair by letting the horse bolt to start with, of course it would be hard for the general population to by into looking after eachother if Boris would sit and eat cake.

Y'all are giving me flashbacks to 2020

It stopped being about public health after a certain point though, and simply started becoming by about control. Not children, more power hungry maniacs that realised they could psychologically mass manipulate a population and abused that power. The leaked WhatsApp messages all but confirm this. It’s opened a lot of people’s eyes to what the political class actually is.
Because the political decisions made early meant they lost control and as such swung in completely the opposite direction.

The legacy of that shambles of a Government should not tarnish any future public response to a pandemic.

We should "rely on science" to inform decisions rather than making politically ideological decisions then blaming science for the outcome when questioned.

For me we are in that unknown zone between pandemic and endemic.
We could technically been in the endemic stage, but we just don't have enough data/time to see it.
We'll find out after the fact that we moved to the endemic stage.

You could be right, their later decisions could have been a panicked reaction to the earlier mishandling and a desperate attempt to make sure their polling numbers stayed up. I personally believe them to be insidious rather than simply incompetent though.

Agreed. Didn't Johnson say something along the lines of bodies being piled up in hospitals as acceptable? I can't remember the exact quote it's been a few years. As @RAFUH says this is some flashbacks I'd locked away for good!

The forced closing down of small businesses and countless lives ruined as a result in order to turbo charge the profits of Amazon by 300% was definitely no accident either.

Yeah my cousin was driven to depression as a result of losing his business.
It's better than dying though right? Not making light of his situation btw, things happen wars, global financial meltdowns etc etc, as a generation we've been very fortunate thus far to not go through the events of our forefathers, the world's never been in such relative peace, on the scale of things being asked to stay in the comfort of your home to wait it out wasn't really a big sacrifice in comparison to humanity's past global events was it? Yeah the world's a mess now but many lives were saved.

That can happen for any number of reasons that are out of someone’s control. Rises in fuel costs and wholesale prices have likely screwed over more businesses.

That’s not the same as the government forcing you to close though is it? And then later it being revealed that they did it “to scare the pants off us” (source: M. Hancock). That’s a set of circumstances.
