Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

So I was just reading some of the posts in this thread from March 23rd 2020, the day that the first lockdown was announced and this one in particular caught my eye.....the irony being that it was only a few weeks later that Dominic Cummings was allowed to get away with his drive to lock himself away in Barnard Castle, no doubt in exchange for him agreeing to remain silent about the fact that the Prime Minster himself had also been breaking the rules, by hosting gatherings in the garden of Number 10. Of course, the public weren’t to know then just how many cases of rule breaking would emerge from those in power over the next two years. Even now looking back, I believe that the Cummings incident single handedly broke the sense of community spirt that existed for those first seven weeks of lockdown. To the above poster, I’m sorry you missed out on your holiday, I hope you’ve found time to enjoy another holiday since.
Was a watershed moment the whole Cummings affair. He sat in front of everyone and lied and all the little weasels backed him up. I believe the press went easy on the tories then as well. Should have ended things.

Cheers mate - we've more than made up for it since!

Life's too short - get away whilst you can

Someone here (yet again, despite being told this about 100x already) was trying to argue that the COVID deaths of vaccinated people in May 2022 was indicative of increased mortality and more likelihood of dying, which completely misrepresents the effectiveness of the vaccine. Putting it bluntly, if 100% of the population were vaccinated than all Covid deaths would be among the vaccinated, but this doesn't mean that the vaccine is ineffective.

Deaf ears, no doubt...

Possibly this ?

I’d put a fiver on it being Legionnaire’s disease. It usually affects the elderly, immuno suppressed and smokers worse.

Seems a bit of hype that they present it as a “mystery” disease, when the article mentions that they haven’t tested yet.

The medical centre’s air conditioning units and water supplies are being tested for possible contamination.
