Shanghai looks horrendous at the moment. Zero COVID is sadly never going to happen.
Jesus, sorry I watched that.
That whole thread is sickening.

I was probably 1 of them.thing is two years ago you had people on this forum and social media (maybe not the best way to judge, like) saying this is what was needed
Thankfully times have changed, or at least in countries that aren't run by dictatorship governments
Well yes, that's very true. The wife tests a few times a week for work, although obviously there's no guarantee that someone in the same household would catch it, and she's also been negative since catching it in the very beginning. That you know of Bruce.
Unless you have been weekly testing for the last 2+ years.
I mean I have yet to test positive, but surely everybody has had a taste by now?
I'm not sure sticking your head in the sand and hoping it all goes away is the world beating strategy Javid thinks it is though.thing is two years ago you had people on this forum and social media (maybe not the best way to judge, like) saying this is what was needed

But we're all as vaccinated as we're ever going to be, Bruce. Loads of people have had it at least once, so have that natural immunity too. Loads of people have had it twice now.I'm not sure sticking your head in the sand and hoping it all goes away is the world beating strategy Javid thinks it is though.
Was wondering why I haven't had it yet.I can only assume it's on account of being very good looking, as I'm also yet to have it.

That's not entirely true either though, is it? Most evidence suggests that the protection of the vaccines is fairly low after a few months, hence why boosters are common. We don't say "I had a flu jab in 1973 so don't need worry anymore...". I quite agree that we do ultimately have to live with this thing, but it seems at the moment that the government's idea of "living with it" is to pretend it doesn't exist. But we're all as vaccinated as we're ever going to be, Bruce. Not sure it's about sticking anybody's heads in the sand and we'll probably be looking at some form of measures in the winter again perhaps.
There's full stadiums and arenas again now all over the world pretty much so it isn't like we're the only country doing this.

I honestly can’t see there ever being another lockdown in the UK, there’s no way the majority of the public would comply with it this time after the way this Government have broken the rules themselves and the Government will be well aware of this. On top of that, there’s no way that they can afford to bring furlough back. That Eric Deng who has posted that tweet always pushes for heavy lockdowns and as much restrictions as possible. I don't really see how lockdown can be used when large portions of society are vaccinated. Masks on public transport etc is debatable but lockdown can't be justified.

I imagine they will be rolling out another booster later in the year ahead of flu season, for those at-risk groups especially.NHS staff don’t seem to be getting lined up for another booster either. Most of them had their last one more than six months ago.
The cynical take would be that the government would rather try and save money than roll out another round of boosters to protect people…
Yeah nobody tbf I think is suggesting lockdown and anyone who isn't absolutely outraged at what they're doing in China is questionable tbh. That Eric Deng who has posted that tweet always pushes for heavy lockdowns and as much restrictions as possible.
