Stopped reading as soon as you lead with this. "Interesting isn't it?" "Just posing the question" I suppose.
Except I didn't lead with either of those things.

Here’s the ONS advising that using that metric in isolation is “both factually incorrect and highly misleading”.

Deaths with pre existing conditions vs deaths without pre existing conditions is a useful statistic I think, but what do I know. I defer to the ONS judgement and I'm happy to stand corrected

There are around 3 million people with comorbidities in the UK. Do they not qualify for a Covid death in your eyes?

Mate, Boris is not by any means the kind of PM I would be comfortable with. Tbh the late Thatcher would have handled this better.

Meanwhile over here restrictions being removed while our Taoiseach (PM) tests positive.

Beggars belief. Glad I have retired.
I'm sure that MT would have made a better job of it. Hate to say it but
She was a scientist after all and would have understood the experts better than the scientific illiterate lot in the present government.

This is a pain. I have classic cars, the sun is shining but I have no energy to join in my club runs. At least I managed to renew the insurance on one of them today

Can't understand how little energy I have yet testing negative. Hopefully time will mend. Best wishes to all GOT posters who are suffering in one way or another.

Answer me this. Do these two sentences have the same or comparable meaning;

Deaths where covid 19 is the underlying cause
Deaths where covid 19 only mentioned on the death certificate

I would argue, without trying to be misleading, that they are comparable.
No, they have very different meanings.

Underlying cause would indicate that other factors are present and relevant - co-morbidity if you will
Which, without trying to be misleading, is pretty much the opposite of being the only factor.

So what you have done is taken one definition for one virus and the complete opposite definition for the other, but presented the result as if they were the same.

I don't believe you would have done that on purpose, but it does illustrate perfectly why listening to actual scientists is so important

Yer I got it wrong
