390 people in hospital with covid in the entire country.. and the chief medical officer is still waffling on about case numbers, Omicron is now accounting for 3 quarters of infections and as with other countries does not to appear to be causing the massive rush to hospital every expert in the world predicted.. I have a good feeling that Omicron is the beginning of the end of this mess a natural vaccine. Once we get over the fear of high numbers it's over.

Yep! (Just to clarify to others - my post was anti-media panic, not anti vax!)
No I am not because as far as I’m aware South Africa has a much higher vaccination rate than 26%, especially in the groups (over 60%) most at risk of death as per the SA data site I linked to - I have no idea where you are getting a 26% rate from.
I suspect you are quoting the % of the total population (including kids) vaccinated - as per the article below the double vaccinated rates for adults is 40%. I don’t know how the third of vaccinations with the single J&J dose is counted, I am assuming that is in addition but that may be incorrect.

Claiming I am attempting to artificially steer a narrative in a certain direction by omitting key context is a tad ironic given you omitted the context of majority of UK being vaccinated when you made this post.

Ideally there would be data broken down by age and vaccination status and the rates per 100,000 for each detailed but this is early data from South Africa and I can understand why the full breakdown is not available.
I doubt it would make any difference to you however as you seem to have summed up the equivalent UKHSA table (that was the very next table down from the ones you did quote) on differences between mortality rates as “sure as a percentage the unvaccinated 18-59’s requiring care or dying is higher than unvaccinated …but not significantly so”.

I personally would class those differences, particularly in the mortality of 50-59s whose rate goes from 2.2 for double vaccinated to 12.9 for unvaccinated on the 60 day cut off, as very significant so it is pointless continuing this discussion. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Yep, in 5 years time I can see us all on our 26th booster, there's a new varient that has the potential to cause a runny nose in 2% of those infected..

Fourth jabs hopefully will be in arms by April/May. Hopefully at some point it will become annual rather than every 3/4 months but if it's needed it's needed.
