Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

New Year's Eve will be ruined even if they just bring in that 8pm rule. That's partly the reason why they should confirm it now, restaurants and pubs etc might be able to limit or even maybe discount sell their stock.
If its open NYE for whatever hours we'll be going to our local for a late lunch - would encourage anyone who feels comfortable doing so to at least grab a drink at theirs in that situation.

Luckily already decided we're staying in that night, so that wouldn't be much different to normal for us - we hate going out that night! just leave the beers chilling and don't need to cook!

Are they actually going to announce restrictions on Boxing Day that will start on the 27th? Is that fair for businesses? Why don't they announce it on the 23rd or even now?
Could he a huge issue if they lockdown again. Retail will be relying on the sales after Christmas so if people can't go then loads of stock just sitting there.

And it will just create a rush back out to the shops when they do reopen , defeating the point of shutting them

Is anybody genuinely arsed about this cheese and wine nonsense?

Wouldn't be surprised if its been planted by a Tory enabler - just to divert the focus of the nation away from the real story

It’s now reached the absolute limit of ridiculous absurdity. But, but, he was sitting with his wife and there were two other people, there was wine, needs hanging….

I’ve had a hat trick of moderna. Second one was awful. Booster yesterday not much better. Just starting to feel myself though. Lemsip max strength to get me through it.
Went for the Moderna trifecta this morning myself. Dreading this evening if it turns out anything like the second dose.

Yeah. It’s just as ridiculous as my mum getting diagnosed with cancer and being sat in a room on her own to receive the news while my dad was in the car outside. Or how none of use could visit her to give her a hug because we were told not to travel. Or sit with my dad who was alone in the house while my mum was having the operation to remove the tumour.

Only cheese and wine indeed.

It took about a week before I could return to my normal training load. Not even additional EPO could help.
and @coollino

This is what I had after my second jab, but for like a month/6 weeks. Totally drained all the time. I had my second jab Sept 1st, had Covid July 20th-26th (tested positive 20th, tested negative 26th, but obviously I was probably positive before the 20th and just didn't know as I had no symptoms at that stage).

Didn't help that I had to go in for a tooth out mid-Sept but it wasn't a major operation. My fitness had been getting back to a decent level by the end of August, but the second jab floored me. Heart rate all over the place, massive bouts of fatigue when on the bike that would suddenly just hit me and I wouldn't be able to get through. Like bonking, Bruce, but after 10/15k just going steady. And I mean I'm only just now managing to get the fitness to do 40-45k without feeling awful, but heart rate is coming back under control now.

I know 100% the jab set me back in that regard but would obviously rather have had it, and it's likely cause I had COVID in between my doses. I had a bit of a fever after my 1st jab (I went out and did a 60k with my dad like which probably wasn't the best idea I'd had but I've never been fitter than I was this summer), no immediate illness after the 2nd, just the issues that I described above.

And I’m very sorry for you and your family. But people were still working during all of this, the no10 staff probably didn’t have the option of wfh and like others who were working there will have been interactions over coffee, lunch or whatever. But, but he was drinking wine…and so were millions of others…..

If you will choose to bonk Bruce then you have to deal with the consequences

The difference being that he was (incredibly, still is) Prime Minister setting the rules for the rest of us.

Lots of people will have hotels booked over the Christmas and New Year too - most carried over from last year.

It`s a really big earner.

I`ve just come back from a picture post card village in N Yorks and every single pub / hotel / restaurant are open for Christmas Day and New Years Eve.

Multiply that across the country and that`s a serious amount of money.

So, as well as the financial cost, you have staff, supply, suppliers etc too.

It’s a disgrace. Either the vaccines work or they don’t. If they do then continue the excellent rollout and the unvaccinated can take their chances. I’m fed up with these people, bring in Covid passports and be done with it….
