Not sure about the current narrative that if you go to pubs or restaurants you're essentially causing the spread. Very clever work by the Tory government. Their scapegoat has been identified.
And worse, avoiding pubs to allow you to go to home gatherings where its much more likely to spread. Everyone, all on one day. Can't think how that'll go wrong...

Yes, I suspect so "you've forced us to take greater measures" sort of thing. The alternative or complimentary factor is that Johnson and Javid are libertarians so will favour a 'personal responsibility' stance.

Kind of hard when, culturally, Christmas is embedded as a time of non-restraint and fun times. Not to mention everyone is utterly cocked-off with it all. And them.

Ordered myself a home test to see if I have got this new variant.

Either that or a simple cold combined with only drinking coffee and allergies.

If I haven't got it then it just goes to show you can't actually tell between the two. But I'll play my part and test either way.

At least they've started training additional doctors, nurses etc and increasing hospital capacity ..

*Checks notes*.. O no wait they've just paid billions to their donor mates and have done absolutely nothing to improve the system in the long run.

Not only that but they will willingly get rid of thousands of front line NHS staff in April. You need to stay at home to save the NHS though.

Is there any hard evidence on the severity of omicron yet? It does make me wonder that a lot of the press here are referring to a Doctor in South Africa who states that the disease produces light symptoms and the press taking that as gospel . As I understand it the Doctor in question is a GP. Now I am no expert but not sure that qualifies them as an expert in virology etc. On the other hand the WHO organisation seem to think that this could be the worst period of the pandemic
