Apparently the stepson of the first omicron death phoned into nick ferrari on LBC this morning and seemed to confirm he was unvaccinated as , and I’m paraphrasing, despite the best attempts of his family he’d been convinced it was all some kind of conspiracy .

I'm resigned to the inevitability of what is about to happen - regardless of whether Omicron results in severe symptoms or not, the sheer amount of cases will cause mayhem over the next couple of months. All we can do is get the jab, be sensible and hope to god that Omicron signals the beginning of the end for COVID-19.

Unfortunately the UK health systems will be under severe pressure every winter for at least the next 4 or 5 years. Nothing is going to change any time soon.

True but even if say next winter COVID gets a bit better and only adds 5% to overall patient numbers it still causes havoc.

All indications right now are that, unless you’ve been living a life of complete solitary confinement the past three weeks, you’re causing the spread. Honestly, even though it’s obviously well intentioned and almost certainly the best option right now, the booster campaign itself is contributing to the spread when you’ve got hundreds of people queueing for hours on end together.
